Welcome to Hikayatna ("we," "our," or "us"). Hikayatna is a private family storytelling platform operated by Pragsys. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.

Account Information
- Name and email address (obtained through Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In via Firebase Authentication)
- Profile photo (if you choose to upload one)
User-Generated Content
- Videos, photos, and text stories you create and share
- Recipe content you create, including recipe text, ingredients, steps, timing, servings, and source notes when you provide them
- Comments and reactions (likes) on posts
- Family group memberships and participation
Family Group Information
- Family groups you create or join
- Invite codes you generate or use
- Your relationships within family groups
Subscription Information
- Subscription tier and entitlement status
- App Store or Google Play purchase status as provided through RevenueCat
- Family storage and member-limit usage needed to enforce plan limits

- Unique device identifiers
- Push notification tokens (for Firebase Cloud Messaging)

How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and Maintain the App: Create and manage your account, enable you to share content with your family groups, and deliver the core functionality of our storytelling platform
- Facilitate Family Sharing: Allow you to create and join family groups, share stories, photos, and videos with family members, and interact through comments and likes
- Send Communications: Deliver push notifications about family activity, new content, comments, and app updates (you can opt out of notifications in your device settings)
- Improve Our Services: Analyze usage patterns to enhance app features, fix bugs, and improve user experience
- Ensure Security: Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests and prevent harm
How Your Information Is Shared
Within Family Groups
When you share content in a family group:
- All members of that family group can view your stories, photos, videos, and comments
- Your profile information (name and profile photo) is visible to family group members
- Family members can interact with your content through comments and likes
Important: Only invite people you trust to your family groups. Content shared within a family group is visible to all members of that group.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate our App:
Firebase (Google)
- Firebase Authentication: Manages user sign-in via Google and Apple
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Delivers push notifications
- Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous usage statistics
- Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports to improve app stability

Convex
Our backend infrastructure provider that stores and processes user profiles, family groups, content metadata, comments, reactions, reports, blocks, invitations, notifications, feedback, and subscription entitlement state.

Bunny.net
Bunny Stream and BunnyCDN process and deliver video content you upload, including generated playback and thumbnail assets.

RevenueCat
RevenueCat helps us manage subscriptions and purchase entitlement state. Payment card details are processed by Apple or Google; Hikayatna does not receive full payment card numbers.

Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In
When you sign in using Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information as permitted by your sign-in provider settings.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services:
- Account Information: Retained until you delete your account
- User-Generated Content: Retained until you delete the content or your account
- Usage Analytics: Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely in anonymized form
- Crash Logs: Retained for up to 90 days to diagnose and fix issues
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or legitimate business purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Portability
You can access your personal information through your profile in the App. You may request a copy of your data by contacting us at support@hikayatna.com.
Correction
You can update your profile information directly in the App.
Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon account deletion:
- Your profile information will be deleted
- Your content will be removed from all family groups
- Family groups you created may be transferred to another member or deleted

Opt-Out of Push Notifications
You can disable push notifications through your device settings.
Data Portability
You may request a machine-readable copy of your data by contacting us at support@hikayatna.com.
Children's Privacy
Hikayatna is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older, or who have parental consent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.
If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may only use Hikayatna with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these terms.

Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL
- Secure authentication through Firebase Authentication
- Access controls to limit data access to authorized personnel
- Regular security assessments of our systems
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.
By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
